Recipe – Daddy Daughter Mean Green

2014_04_20 - Mean Green 2aHi there. Mean Green is the first recipe juice I ever made. In Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead, they show a picture of the recipe in the second half of the movie. I literally paused the movie, took down the ingredients, and went to my neighborhood grocery store. It is another one of my staples, especially during reboots (I like it for lunch). Here is the original recipe from Joe Cross on Reboot with Joe:

  • 1 cucumber
  • 4 celery stalks
  • 2 apples (granny smith)
  • 6-8 leaves kale
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 1 T. ginger

Here’s how I’ve tweaked it to make it Daddy Daughter Mean Green. It makes about a quart (32 oz.).

  • 1 English or regular cucumber (not peeled, washed with Fit, you could go 1/2 of an English if it’s really large)
  • 6 celery stalks (washed with Fit)
  • 3 large or 4 small granny smith apples (washed with Fit, halved if needed to fit)
  • 3-5 leaves kale (I usually shove what I can in the chute…I use curly Kale)
  • 1 lemon (peeled…I like my lemon)
  • 1 small slice of ginger (cut off the ginger root)

Recipe – Sunrise Citrus

OK, my first recipe on Daddy Daughter Juicing is one of my favorites – Sunrise Citrus. You can see the original recipe Kelly Pfeiffer from Nosh & Nourish on Reboot with Joe. I don’t tweak this recipe at all. One reason I don’t is that it can make over 40 oz. This means that when I use my non-Multi-Speed Breville I almost always have to dump the juice before I get done into a larger container, finish the recipe and dump that in the larger container as well. Here is the recipe:

  • 6 carrots (organic, ends chopped off, washed with Fit)
  • 2 red grapefruit (peeled and halved to fit into the juicer chute)
  • 2 pears (washed with Fit and halved to fit into the juicer)
  • 1 red pepper (washed with Fit, halved, and seeded)

Here you can see it prepped:

Pulp from a Breville Juice Fountain Multi-Speed

Every juicer is different. I love my Breville Juice Fountain Multi-Speed. Pulp is relatively (from my perspective) small amount, and dry. You can judge for yourself. I will say that the pulp is definitely dryer than with the regular Juice Fountain, but I think that’s fairly good, too.  So, here you go…

Cleaning my Breville juicer

Did a video to show what it’s like to clean my Breville Juice Fountain Multi-Speed. I think it’s relatively easy, but judge for yourself. Hope it’s helpful 🙂

My first post – why I like my juicer!

Hi there. I am launching Daddy Daughter Juicing as a blog today. I have gotten a lot of questions about what kind of juicer I use, and what I like.

I have two juicers – a Breville Juice Fountain Plus (JE98XL) and a Breville Juice Fountain Multi-Speed (BJE510XL). I did a video on why I like the Multi-Speed:
